Here now and now here or nowhere

The title of this blog comes from a play on words that "now here" is also the same letters as "nowhere" just with a space added in the middle. I am always trying to get better at being in the here and now, and I've always been a bit of a joker so that is why I chose this name.

Day 9 - On Inle Lake (Part 1)

Boat Trip Day!!! Hoorah!  One of the things everyone had said to me before coming to Burma was about how amazing Inle is. So I was very excited to wake up today to prepare for the boat trip.  There was 6 of us in total from various countries and we were to start off by going to the opposite end of the lake to see the area's 5 day local market which moves locations everyday for 5 locations.  As we set off, for us early, we could see many fishermen already out on the water trying to earn their catch for the day.  A beautiful reflection of the sunlight and nearby green of the hills and valleys created a great atmosphere as we glided down past the towns and pagodas of the lakes people.  As we approached the market more and more, we saw many boats floating away with veggies or animals aboard.  Turns out that as we arrived, the market was near over.  It would have been a little nicer if our guide had told us and we could have left a bit earlier. Alas… this is life sometimes.  Besides the market, the area also had a nice temple with some beautiful pagoda's overlooking the market area.  We did a little exploring but then wanted to leave to see what was next, as this area was almost dead.

here is a picture of me with tanaka (the wood paste Burmese use for makeup, suntan lotion and moisturizer in one) on my face.
