Here now and now here or nowhere

The title of this blog comes from a play on words that "now here" is also the same letters as "nowhere" just with a space added in the middle. I am always trying to get better at being in the here and now, and I've always been a bit of a joker so that is why I chose this name.

Wat Phu Champasak

Vat Phou or Wat Phu is a ruined Khmer temple complex in southern Laos. It is located at the base of mount Phu Kao (formally known as Mount Lingaparvata) some 6 km from the Mekong river in Champasak province. Though nothing to special to look at, at least compared to the other Angkor temples around Siem Reap, this was once an impressive temple. It made for a nice day trip from Pakse as there is pretty much nothing special to do in that town.

the stairs to head up to the top temple. steep to say the least

yay, more stairs

temple atop the hill

buddha getting some sun

intricate stone carvings on the temple

inside buddha

looking down on it all

the entrance with two mirror lakes

elephant carving

heading down. my feet are much too big to make these narrow steps. luckily, I didn't fall

old palace in ruins

opposite palace also in ruins

snakes. traditional khmer style

from the entrance looking in. the mountain in the back right was the "linga" mountain. Honestly, the old religious people found everything to look like a penis or boobs. good to know perverts and religion have gone hand and hand for nearly all of time. :)
