While staying on china beach we planned to go back up the Da Nang coast and check out the giant buddha on Monkey Mountain. Monkey Mountain is a peninsula just off of Da Nang city and was used by the US during the war. Now it's becoming a tourist resort place and parts of the mountain are still shut off by the Vietnamese government.
We visited the temple on Monkey mountain after the visit to the Cham museum (as previously blogged about). In between the museum and mountain we had a little picnic I prepared on the beach. It was a very lovely day.
Kaja helps to set out the picnic on the beach.
i love all the fresh herbs you can get here.
I found a flag and has some fun photogenic moments.

they had a bunch of statues of buddha's henchmen on top as well.
To us they seemed more comical than serious.
one row of them, there was another row on the other side.
a fatter buddha in front of the taller thinner buddha

as we drove back home we passed by a bunch of boats sitting in the water as the sun went down. It was such a beautiful and nice day.
